The Death of the To-Do List: What Comes Next?

To-do lists are outdated. Here's what modern productivity looks like.

The classic to-do list assumes you can predict your day. But in reality, priorities shift, interruptions happen, and tasks take longer than expected. That's why so many people feel like they're failing their lists.

A better approach is time-blocking with context. Instead of listing tasks, you assign them to specific time slots in your calendar. Notion's database views make this easy: you can filter by energy level, project, or deadline. I use a 'Today' view that shows only tasks scheduled in the next 8 hours.

The shift from 'what to do' to 'when to do it' reduces decision fatigue and increases completion rates. Try it for a week. Your to-do list will thank you.
