Why We Stopped Using Spreadsheets for Project Tracking
Spreadsheets are flexible, but they're terrible for managing people and deadlines. Here's what we use instead.
For years, we tracked our content calendar in Google Sheets. It worked… until we had more than 20 tasks in a month. Formulas broke, colors meant different things to different people, and nobody could see dependencies.
We switched to a Notion project tracker with linked databases. Now each project has its own page, and we use rollups to see total hours, status, and blockers at a glance. The biggest win? Every team member can update their own tasks without breaking someone else's view.
Spreadsheets are great for numbers. But for collaborative project management, they're a liability. If you're in a spreadsheet right now, ask yourself: how much time do you waste fixing formatting? The answer will tell you it's time to switch.
